7HC-3524-X Steering Gearbox Worm

This replacement worm is press fitted to the steering shaft. The customer will re-use the existing shaft, pressing off the old worm and pressing on the new part. The applications listed below are for Left Hand drive vehicles. It is recommended to heat the new worm, and chill the shaft before pressing the new part on. A 50 Ton press is suggested.

Applications:

1937-48 Ford passenger cars

1939-48 Mercury passenger cars

1937-52 Ford pickup trucks (1/2 ton and 3/4 ton; F-1 and F-2 types)

1949-51 Mercury passenger cars (see note below)*

* NOTE: Using this worm on the 49-51 Mercury passenger car requires modifying the steering shaft to index the steering wheel to the orientation of the straight forward direction of the car. The mechanic must modify the indexing spline at the bottom of the shaft, OR he must re-cut the keyway for the woodruff key at the steering wheel.
